I’m excited to announce that I got to open a box of my books just a few days ago, and I’ve already scheduled a book signing at my neighborhood grocery store. The picture above is what I posted on social media.
The folks at Fresh Thyme want to serve the community by welcoming local authors, providing meeting rooms for community groups, and having local events of their own. One such event is The Turkey Thyme Open House this Saturday, Nov. 7th, where they’ll have food samples and recipes for the upcoming holiday season.
The wordplay used in Turkey Thyme Open House is so similar to my use of wordplay in Verses Versus Curses that I knew my book would be just the right fit for this event.
They’ve given me space in the children’s area where they also have a table and crayons for the youngsters. Perfect! My illustrator for Verses Versus Curses agreed to create coloring pages from from several poems so I could give them away to children—or to the adults who brought them. No judgement. A crayon can be a creative tool for a lifetime.
Fresh Thyme is just a few blocks from where I live and they’ve welcomed me before when I sold copies of The Most Amazing Museum of Los Angeles. I’ll also bring a dozen of those books in case someone has an older child.
I really want to sell this book in time for the holidays because Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other stores won’t be able to“release” it until December 21st. The ebook for Kindle is available right now (also on Apple Books), but I’m checking Amazon daily for information about the physical book. When it’s listed I’ll be encouraging pre-orders.
If you’re not local and want to have a copy of Verses Versus Curses in your hands for Christmas you’re in luck. I’ll sign a personalized copy for you and send it right away. The book is $15.99 and if you send me $20 (shipping and handling) I’ll put in in the mail as soon as possible.
I have PayPal and Venmo QR codes that I’ll share on request. Just reply to this email.
I also have copies of MAMLA that I’ll send for the same price.
My illustrator, Andrea Benko, created a short preview video that I’m adding below. It’s adorable and so full of joy, just like her! I am SO going to work with her again!
